Superior health and wellness benefits

The Group Health Insurance unit manages and administers medical, dental, life, and supplemental insurance benefits for government employees and retirees. As part of its responsibilities, the unit also oversees a wellness program for the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Annual Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment will begin in August 2025, stay tuned for details. During this time, active government employees and retirees can enroll in or modify their health and life insurance plans and update beneficiaries.

Senate Approves New Health Insurance Contract: Updated Premiums and Rates
Effective October 17, 2024

The Senate has approved the GESC Board’s proposed Health Insurance Contract, and, as a result, the new health insurance premiums will go into effect on October 17, 2024, with the Government, as the employer, absorbing an increase of 4%, and active employees and retirees also responsible for their 4% increase portion. Retirees

The Government of the US Virgin Islands provides superior health benefits to our retirees. Retirees under 65 years of age are covered by CIGNA Healthcare and retirees over 65 years of age are covered by United Healthcare.
