1. How do I get on the to the ESS?
   • On the home page, scroll down until you see a button the says 'ESS'. Click on it and it will take you to the module.

2. What is my login information?
   • For active government employees, the username is the first letter of the first name, the entire last name, and the employee number of the employee. (ex. JDOE12345)
   • For new employees, you would have to contact the HRIS helpdesk via phone (340-714-5049) to have your account verified and activated.
   • If you forgot your password you would have to contact the HRIS helpdesk via phone (340-714-5049) to have your account verified and password changed.
3. I got into the ESS but I cannot find my check stubs, what do I do?
   • Once you get to the welcome screen, if you scroll down to where it says 'Paychecks', you will see the 5 most recent pay stubs.
   • If you want to view all of you pay stubs year-to-date (YTD), on the right-hand side on the screen you will see a menu. Proceed to click on the 'Pay/Tax Information' tab on the menu. There you will see all the pay stubs YTD, and also pay stubs going back about 4 years.
4. Where can I find my W-2 information?
   • Under the 'Pay/Tax Information' tab, you will see a sub menu of items. There you will find W-2 information.
5. How do I change my email or mailing address?
   • On the welcome screen, you will see your personal information with your name, address, phone number(s) and email. on the right, in blue, you will see a like that says 'More'. Click on that to access the page to edit such information.
   • Also in the menu on the right, you will see a 'Personal Information' tab. You may click there to edit the information as well.
   • PLEASE NOTE: Any information updated in in Personal Information will immediately reflect on the live HR employee database. Please ensure your information is correct.

1. How do I get to GVI Stats?
   • STATS is the online time system of the GVI managed by the Department of Finance, MIS helpdesk.
   • To get to STATS, scroll down to the bottom of the page, under 'Quick Links', click on STATS. It will take you to the login screen for STATS.
   • You can also access STATS through the Department of Finance's website: www.dof.vi.gov.
     
     
2. What is my login information?
   • The username is usually the first initial of your first and middle name, and your entire last name.
   • To change your set up your account or change your password, please contact the MIS help desk at Department of Finance via phone 340-774-4750 (ask for STATS) or email: DOFhelpdesk@vi.gov (subject line: STATS).

1. Where can I find the W-4 form?
   • W-4 forms are available from your agency's HR personnel or the IRS website.
   • You can also click here to get a copy: W-4 Form.
     
     
2. Can I fill out the 2019 W-4 and turn it in?
   • The 2019 W-4 form is no longer valid for submission. The IRS has issued an updated version of the form which is different from the old W-4 form and it requires different information.
     
     
3. How do I fill out the 2020 W-4 form?
   • You are encouraged to read the entire form before you begin filling it out. The personal information requirements remain the same.
   • Be sure to select either single or married, it is important.
   • The IRS encourages everyone to use the Tax Withholding Estimator to perform a “paycheck checkup.” This will help you make sure you have the right amount of tax withheld from your paycheck.
     There are several reasons to check your withholding:
     • Checking your withholding can help protect against having too little tax withheld and facing an unexpected tax bill or penalty at tax time next year.
     • At the same time, you may prefer to have less tax withheld up front, so you receive more in your paychecks and get a smaller refund at tax time.
   • If you prefer to complete the form without the estimator, as a guide, please complete the following: 
     At Step 3:
     • If you have dependents under the age of 17, you would need multiply that number by $2,000, then state that amount in dollars.
       (ex. If you have 3 dependents under age 17, it would be $6,000. {3 x $2,000= $6,000})
     • If you have dependents over the age of 17, you would need multiply that number by $500, then state that amount in dollars.
       (ex. If you have 3 dependents over age 17, it would be $1,500. {3 x $500= $1,500})
     • Then you would add the dollar amounts and state it next to the 3 on the right.
   • If you do not have any dependents, leave step 3 blank and proceed to next step.
   • If Steps 2-4 does not apply to you, proceed to Step 5.
     
     
4. Who do I turn in the W-4 form to?
   • W-4 forms are to be turned into your agency's HR person.
